Jaap Nauta graduated with an MSc in Metallurgy from the Delft University of Technology in 1982 and immediately joined Shell International E&P in the Netherlands as a Corrosion and Materials Specialist. This was followed by a successful series of assignments in Field Development and HSE in the Netherlands, Oman, UK and Syria. In 2001 Jaap returned to the Netherlands as Global Planning Manager for the E&P sector in Shell, in 2004 he was appointed Global Implementation Manager for the Sarbanes-Oxley framework, as Global Governance, Risk and Assurance Manager E&P and in 2007 as Global VP Value and Project Assurance for a $40 bln upstream investment portfolio.
Jaap retired from Shell in 2010 to start his own consulting firm, and is currently advising customers in Europe and Asia-Pacific on strengthening of their Governance, Control and Assurance framework.
