    Course Overview

    Tight oil and gas resource plays have opened up an entirely new global business in the energy industry.  The tight unconventional resource field is in its early stages of development and both industry and government are attempting to mature the technology, regulations, and execution strategies in order to create a profitable and publicly acceptable business in a sustainable manner. 

    In turn, this will allow leaders in the industry and government bodies to jointly have a mutual understanding of the opportunities, issues and risk mitigation approaches encompassing the tight unconventional resource business.

    • Evolving technologies for the development of tight unconventional resources
    • Differing technical approaches for different geologies
    • Creating a viable, integrated regulatory framework
    • Selecting contrasting approaches to the needed service industry development

    This 3-day course will examine the evolution of tight unconventional oil and gas development and its current status.  It will present the business, regulatory and stakeholder issues facing tight oil and gas and, at a management level, provide tools and concepts necessary to successfully create a sustainable unconventional business model.  The program will approach and evaluate the various issues from a technical, organizational and societal basis using risk / opportunity management as a primary evaluation tool.  The course learning objectives will be reinforced with exercises, syndicate discussions and case studies.
